A New Year, a new beginning

It being the Roman Catholic Church's New Year can I recommend some reading? These books have inspired and influenced me:
The Narnian: the Life and Imagination of C.S. Lewis (see here ) by Alan Jacobs is well worth a read and gave me pause for thought on more than one occasion.

The Mountain of Silence: A Search for Orthodox Spirituality
by Kyriacos C. Markides and his Gifts of the Desert: The Forgotten Path of Christian Spirituality. Both of these books are absolutely 'must reads' - they will inspire and challenge you. The first lead myself and two fellow friars to go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain itself.
I hope these are of benefit to you.

Well I suppose one has to start somewhere. God alone knows where this will lead. Since tomorrow is the First Sunday of Advent this is really the Church's New Year's Eve. I should be partying! My new year's resolution is make more time for prayer, especially in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Get closer to the Lord so you learn how close He already is.
